Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, recovering from illness, or struggling to find their place in mainstream education, we’re here to help. Our small, caring team is committed to creating personalised learning experiences that build confidence, promote wellbeing, and unlock potential. We deliver a variety of exciting and engaging programmes for your young people and families in a calm welcoming environment

We believe that with the right support, every young person can thrive.

Here When Traditional School Isn’t the Right Fit

UKG is a unique alternative educational provision offering a safe, supportive environment for young people.

Personalised Support That Makes a Difference

At UKG Learning Centre, every child matters. Our small, dedicated team combines professional experience with genuine care to support children, families, and referrers. We’re here to help every young person unlock their full potential through tailored guidance and support.

A Modern, Welcoming Hub for Learning

Based in our newly refurbished centre in the heart of Ringwood (formerly Barclays Bank), we offer a fresh, inspiring space for young people across Hampshire, Dorset, BCP, and beyond. It’s a safe, vibrant environment designed to encourage growth and connection.

Bridging the Gap, Not Replacing School

We understand that some children need a different kind of support. UKG is not a school replacement — we work to re-engage students who have become disconnected from mainstream education, guiding them back into appropriate learning or future pathways with care and structure.

Working Together to Reach the Right Goals

We partner closely with families, schools, and professionals to ensure every child has a clear, realistic plan. Whether it’s short-term support or a longer journey, our goal is always progress — delivered with patience, compassion, and consistency.

MEET THE TEAM

Our head office is based on the south coast of England and directed by Helen who is supported by her team responsible for ensuring that the best care is taken of every child under her guardianship. The team will ensure that logistics of travel arrangements are in place on time and keep in close contact with every child to ensure their needs are being met.

Services and Provision

Our Alternative Provision is more than just re-engagement, it comprises of mentoring and guidance, physical and mental wellbeing sessions, emotional literacy and life skills, all interwoven to ensure a comprehensive package of support for the young people we work with.

Re-engagement

At UKG we understand how vital it is for young people to be in some form of education or training. As a re-engagement service our goal is to do everything, we can to make that possible.

As well as ensuring our programmes have a strong focus on positive wellbeing and social development, we are able to deliver a range of courses to suit each young person we work with.

We know every pathway is different and we work hard to build a package of support with all parties to maximise the chance of successful re engagement.

Mentoring & Guidance

At points in all of our lives we need someone to talk to when things start to feel overwhelming.

All our staff are highly trained and experienced mentors who offer a caring and professional service to the young people they support.

At the heart of everything they do is a desire to ensure all young people get the right personalised support to succeed. Each child is different so their days will look very different Example:

11:00am – Arrival and Check-in

Children are welcomed into a calm, friendly space with time to settle in, chat with a trusted adult, and choose a grounding activity like journaling, art, or mindfulness.

11:30am – Practical or Therapeutic Activity

Hands-on, confidence-building sessions such as:

• Bike repair workshops – developing problem-solving skills and independence

• Art and creativity sessions – supporting self-expression and emotional regulation

• Cooking and life skills – promoting teamwork, routine, and self-esteem

12:30pm – Lunch

Children eat in a relaxed, communal setting, with space for quiet time if preferred. This is also a chance to build social confidence in a safe, supported environment.

1:00pm – Outdoor and Experiential Learning

Afternoons are designed to reconnect children with nature and real-world experiences. Activities may include:

• River walks and water studies – learning about ecosystems, conservation, and science in action

• Gardening and nature-based mindfulness

• Sensory trails, local walks, or gentle physical games

2:00pm – Reflection and Preparation for Home

A calm end to the day with a short check-out session. Children are encouraged to reflect on what they enjoyed, how they felt, and what they’d like to try next time.

2:30pm – Home Time

Children leave feeling accomplished, supported, and ready for the rest of their day.

Wellbeing

We believe in making sure that young people are given the chance to understand the benefits of healthy living and the importance of taking care of themselves both physically and mentally.

All young people at UKG have an assigned Key Worker, Our provision addresses the critical wellbeing needs of children unable to thrive in mainstream education due to anxiety, trauma, or medical challenges. We deliver a holistic model of care—combining education with emotional support, therapeutic activities, and trusted adult relationships. This integrated approach helps young people stabilise, re-engage with learning, and move towards long-term recovery and reintegration.
